Support for the latest OS
iOS/iPadOS 15 Qualified Build
After months of beta testing, Apple formally released iOS & iPadOS 15 on September 20th, 2021. Aila’s SDK version 1.9.18 has been fully qualified to use for devices running iOS and iPadOS 15.
Automated Firmware Updates
Firmware Update for 12.9-inch Interactive Kiosk (3rd Gen. & 4th/5th Gen.)
Included with this build is an automatic update to the firmware for the 12.9-inch Interactive Kiosk for 12.9-inch iPad Pro 3rd Gen. and 4th/5th Gen. This will update the communications protocol between the iPad and the kiosk for full conformance with the latest API’s from Apple.
iOS 13 Notice: The new communications protocol is only compatible with iPad Pro 3rd Gen and 4th/5th Gen devices running iPadOS 14 or greater. If you have 12.9-inch iPad Pro Gen. 3 or Gen. 4/5 device running anything prior to iPadOS 14, you are advised to either update your iPads or continue using SDK v1.9.17 until your fleet can be updated. This update does not affect lightning-based iPads that use the audio jack.
This is an unattended update that will occur within five minutes of launching an app with SDK 1.9.18 embedded and will take less than two minutes to complete. This build will update firmware on Gen. 3 kiosk to v105 and a Gen. 4/5 kiosk to version v109.

New Symbology Support and Features
We have formally expanded our list of supported symbologies to include Code 93. In addition, we have also added a UPC-E to UPC-A expansion feature, allowing 7-digit UPC-E barcodes to be expanded to their 12-digit UPC-A equivalents for environments where you may want to consolidate the returned data to a UPC-A output.
We are also introducing GS1 barcode parsing as a new feature (additional licensing required, please contact [email protected]). GS1 barcodes may contain multiple data types, including but not limited to lot number, expiration dates, and serial numbers. Our GS1 Parsing feature can now be configured to return these data types in line with their parentheses delimited identifiers.
End of Support Notice: Resiliency Mode
Resiliency Mode was a feature we introduced on our Interactive Kiosk for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 4th Gen. This feature, when enabled, allowed the iPad to power the kiosk in the event of a power disruption or to use for tradeshows and outdoor events such as sidewalk sales.
We will be formally ending support for this feature in Q1, 2022 with another planned SDK release. If you have any questions, please reach out to our support team.
Updated Barcode Scanning Libraries
We have updated our barcode scanning libraries for additional bug fixes and improvements.
We have remediated a bug that would occasionally cause an application to crash. This bug has been able to be reproduced and has been corrected.
